BONUS FHWA TRAINING:
A Primer to Complete Streets

On Wednesday May 25th, 2022 there will be a bonus technical training hosted by the FHWA: “A Primer to Complete Streets.” The Training will be held at the Houston-Galveston Area Council Offices, Conference Room A,B, and C on the 2nd floor, at 3555 Timmons Lane, Houston TX 77027. This free bonus technical training is intended for planners, engineers, and other who implement transportation projects, but is also open to all conference attendees. Space is limited to 40 participants.

A Primer to Complete Streets

Description

What is a complete street? FHWA is promoting complete streets as a means to achieve our goals for safety, livability, equity, and more. This workshop will introduce participants to the concept, provide examples and illustrations, and foster discussion to help participant see opportunities to advance complete streets for their state or community.

Agenda

• Introduction to complete streets
• Technical discussion on ways to achieve complete streets
• Facilitated discussion on roadblocks, common issues, and participant driven feedback
• Exercise on complete streets design
• Total length of the workshop is approximately 3 hours

Intended Outcomes

• Build awareness of complete streets and FHWA priorities
• Facilitate discussions on how to implement complete streets plans
• Serve as a launch for subsequent actions to implement complete streets into programs, processes, policies, and projects.

Audience

Attendees of the Texas Vision Zero Summit, engineers, planners, and others who design and implement transportation projects.
